Today's Truth
Have you ever felt like your time with God was a separate event from the rest of your day? I often feel like God shows me something in His Word, but then I pretty much forget about it while I live my life. I don't think we do this on purpose, it just happens.
As we live our life, it can be easy for us to forget the bigger picture. This is why my wife Janie and I developed "Today's Truth." This simple notepad is a way to connect your time with God to the rest of your day.
As you read the Bible, take a second to fill out the top sheet of "Today's Truth." There are spaces for the date and Scripture passage that you're reading, along with three prompts:
- Key Words
In this blank, write out key words that you see in this passage. Is the writer telling you about the GRACE of God? Maybe they want you to remember God's MERCY or FORGIVENESS. Write these key words to keep them on your mind throughout the day.
- "What is God calling me to do?"
This is a significant question for anyone reading the Bible. Write down what God is calling you to do from this passage. It may be believing a certain truth, changing something about how you live, or reaching out to someone in your life. Putting this down for you to remember helps make it real.
- "What am I praying for?"
I have always believed that one of the best ways to apply Scripture is to pray from it. Scour the passage you're reading for something that you can pray for yourself or others. If you're using Today's Truth to send into someone else's life (maybe a kid's lunchbox!), this is a great place to write out a prayer for them.
I really hope this tool can be useful in helping "stir you up by way of reminder," to the things of God (2 Peter 1:13).
There are 50 sheets in each notepad, and my favorite part about "Today's Truth" is ripping the sheet off the top of the notepad and taking it with me!
